“The Obsidian Oath”

A woman. A temple. A curse buried beneath centuries. In the land where gods once walked, destiny awakens…

Chapter 1: Whispers in the Dust

Chapter 1 of The Obsidian Oath

The sun fell heavy on the Anatolian plateau, casting molten gold across the ruins of Hattusa. The ancient capital slept beneath centuries of stone and silence but something was stirring.

They called her Alya, born to silence and secrets, the last priestess of a temple no one remembered, in a village so old it no longer bore a name. Her eyes, the colour of storm darkened seas, carried generations of sorrow. Her voice, when she used it, could still a crowd or summon spirits.

Alya lived alone at the edge of the hills, in a home carved into the mountain’s bone. She had no family. Only a black pendant etched with obsidian runes and a faded scroll, sealed with wax that bore a winged lion, the symbol of a god whose name had been stricken from memory.

But today, everything would change.

A foreign excavation team had arrived, disturbing what was meant to be left alone. Among them was a man with familiar eyes and an accent that shouldn’t have existed  the kind that felt like déjà vu wrapped in fire.

As dusk settled and the call of night birds echoed through the ravine, Alya stood barefoot in the dust, her fingers grazing the half-buried altar beneath the earth. She had dreamed of this moment since she was a child.

The gods were no longer sleeping.
And neither were their enemies.

Travel Footnote:

Did you know Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite Empire and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site in Türkiye? Its ruins whisper stories of powerful queens, vanished gods, and temples that once called thunder from the skies.
